Wujiaqu Travel Guide

Wujiaqu is a county level city directly under the jurisdiction of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. It is located at the northern foot of Bogeda Peak of Tianshan Mountains, the southern margin of Junggar Basin. It is 75 kilometers long from north to south and 29 kilometers wide from east to west, covering an area of 711 square kilometers. Wujiaqu City is a temperate continental climate, landform from south to north for mountain, alluvial plain and desert. It has a population of 143,900.

The main tourist attractions in Wujiaqu City are the Qinggeda Lake, Ten Thousand Spring, Santaigou Valley, Fengqi Lake, North Tashan Rock Painting, North Tashan Silicon Wood, Shiqian Beach, Baijia Lake, Gural Tonggut Desert, Tang Dynasty Road, Maqiao Old City, Xinqu Old City, Yingpanliang Ruins, Xiquan Beacon Tower, Tudunzi Mosque, Oasis Garden, etc. 

Beiting Desert Ecological Scenic Spot is a national 3A(third level) scenic spot. It is close to Gural Tonggu Desert in the north, 170 kilometers from the regional capital Urumqi in the west, 27 kilometers from the historic ancient city Beiting Prefecture in the south and 80 kilometers from the Wucaiwan Hotspring. It forms a tour cluster with Beiting West Big Temple, Cheshi Ancient Road, Five Color Bay, Tianchi Lake, Dinosaur Valley, Silicon Wood Group and other international famous tourist spots. The scenic spots covers an area of 34.8 hectares with the east-west road in the scenic area as the main axis of landscape sightseeing, farmland and shelterbelt outside the desert and continuous sand dunes, ammodendrum, tamarisk, populus euphratica, sand jujube and other sand forest resources, yellow sheep, hare, wolf, sand lizard, golden eagle, falcon and other wild animals.

Qinggeda Lake Scenic Spot is a national 4A(second level) scenic area and a national water conservancy scenic area. Located 3 kilometers in the southern suburbs of Wujiaqu City, 32 kilometers south of Urumqi City, it has a unique location advantage. Covering an area of 36 square kilometers, there are 17 square kilometers of water surface and 10 square kilometers of wetlands. Qinggeda Lake means "Water of the Gods" in Mongolian. It is backed by the Tianshan Mountains and has clear water to the sky. In particular, 10 square kilometers of wetlands are home to tens of thousands of migratory birds every autumn.

Ten Thousand Spring Scenic Spot is a national 4A(second level) scenic spot, located under the Wanquan Peak of the Tianshan Mountains, 250 kilometers away from Urumqi. The scenic area covers an area of 4 square kilometers. It is an ecological tourism scenic spot integrating entertainment, catering, summer vacation and conference training.

Roast stuffed bun, roast goat leg with cumin, Naan made from corn flour, hand pilaf, saute spicy chicken and so on.

● Transportation

Railway: 45 km from Urumqi Station. 

Highway: The city is 33 kilometers away from Urumqi in the south, 23 kilometers away from Changji City in the west and 55 kilometers away from Fukang City in the east.

Airport: 40 km from Urumqi Diwopu International Airport which has flights to main cities in China’s inland, international flights to Mongolia and Central Asia, etc.

● Climate

Wujiaqu City is a mid-temperate continental climate, deep in the hinterland of the Eurasian continent, drought, low temperature, many hours of light, large diurnal temperature difference and drastic changes in temperature. Spring and autumn are not obvious, cold in winter and hot in summer, with significant continental characteristics. It can be roughly divided into 3 climatic zones. The mountains in the south, the deserts in the north and the central plains.
