Mount Minya Konka or Mount Gongga is located at the eastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau, between the Dadu River and the Yalong River, in the middle section of the Hengduan Mountains. It covers an area of about 30 kilometers east-west length by about 60 kilometers south-north. It lies among Kangding, Luding, Shimian and Jiulong, the four counties of the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Ganzi in Sichuan Province. It is the highest mountain in Sichuan, with the highest peak of 7,556 meters above sea level, enjoying the fame as 'King of the Mountains in Sichuan Province.

This region of the plateau, called by Tibetans "Kham", is slowly becoming know to the world for its incredible untouched mountain scenery and spectacular views.

The vertical drop of more than 6,000 meters in Minya Konka created the rich biodiversity and landscape. Lush subtropical jungle, wide translucent glaciers, crystal-like airplane lakes, mysterious red rocks, healing hot springs, sparse thickets, endless cloud seas and rare animals coexist in Mount Gongga harmoniously.

The scenery changes with altitude rising, you will encounter with a totally different world every ten miles at Mount Gongga.

A trekking trip to Minya Konka normally needs about a week and it is a serious camping trekking. In a Minya Konka trekking, you can see the many snow-capped peaks including Minya Konka, alpine views of Tibetan landscape, nomads Tibetan people, glaciers and Tibetan Monasteries.

● Best Photography Sites to Shoot Mount Gongga

Though trekking is not suitable for normal tourists, getting close to Minya Konka and taking unbeatable photos in this marvelous area can still cheer you up at any time. There are tons of great sites to capture photos around Mount Gongga like Lenggacuo Lake, Zimei Pass, Black Stone City, etc.

01. Lenggacuo

Lenggacuo is located in Bangmujide Village, Gonggashan Township, Kangding City, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. This is one of the few Haizi closest to the God Mountain of Gongga. She shines like a tear in Gongga's eyes, like a diamond. Down.

When the weather is good, you can take pictures of various beautiful scenery such as the sunshine Jinshan, the starry sky, the Milky Way, the snow peaks and the sea, and the lake freezes after December every year. You can also play on the lake and shoot the blue ice!

02. Niubei Mountain

The unique geographic location that protrudes in the middle of surrounded by mountains has earned it the reputation of 360° "China's largest viewing platform" and an excellent photography mecca , which has attracted countless travel friends and photography enthusiasts.

03.  Zimei Pass

The Zimei Pass (4550 m) is a great platform to see Gongga Peak. The linear distance from Zimei Yakou to the main peak of Gongga Mountain is only about 5km! When the weather is good, wait for the sunset and enjoy the panoramic view of the golden Gongga Peak.

04. Black Stone City

Hei Shi Cheng (Black Stone City) is located on Gaoersi Mountain at the junction of Yajiang and Kangding counties in Sichuan Province. It is more than 4,400 meters above sea level. Here is the beautiful viewing platform to view and photograph Mt. Gongga (The King of Mountains in Sichuan) with 7556 meters above sea level. From here, you can also see Yala Moutain, Zheduo Mountain and other snow mountains.
