Guan’e gou National Forest Park locates in the outskirt of Tanchang County, Longnan City, Gansu Province. It is consist of four major parts: Guanzhu gou (guanzhu valley), Eman gou (Eman valley), Mulong gou (Mulong valley) and Miao gou (temple valley). It gained the staus of National Forest Park in the year 2003 and was rated as AAAA National Scenic Spot in 2007. In 2014, Guan’e Gou National Geological Park was established.
This national park is in south of Gansu Province, in a region named Longnan, and it sits adjacent to north Sichuan Province. Longnan is a prefecture-level city in China's Gansu province. It is in southern Gansu province bordering Shaanxi in the east and Sichuan in the south.
Longnan has a temperate, monsoon-influenced semi-arid climate, with chilly winters and hot, moderately humid summers. Due to the protected valley location and the southerly location within the province, the area is one of the warmest in Gansu, with annual temperatures ranging from 10 to 15°C.
The annual precipitation is 400 to 1000 mm, while there are between 160 to 280 frost free days and the annual mean sunshine total is 1,850 sunlight hours. Rainfall tends to be greatest during the summer. It is meteorologically and geologically a huge contrast to that of other parts of Gansu Province that are dry and barren, that explains the lush mountains in Guan’e Valley.
Here in this park, visitors are bombarded with a collection of different sceneries including virgin forests, idyllic grasslands, strangely shaped hills and bumps and crystal clear water and lakes. Apart from natural beauty, this park is also home to some 3000 Tibetan and Qiang ethnic groups. Their culture, architecture, custom and crafts added exoticness to the view.
75% of these areas were covered in vegetation or forests. There are 13 lakes, different in size and water color, decorate 14km of this 30 km long valley, the remainders are covered by virgin forests consist of Firs and Cypress. This national park is dotted with 11 waterfalls big and smalls. The further reach of this park are highland pasture and snow capped mountains.
