The Shunan Bamboo Sea is the world's rare and China's only bamboo culture, and bamboo ecological leisure vacation travel destination with a integration of  bamboo scenery, landscapes, lakes, waterfalls, temple as well as human landscape with a long history.

Located in the border of Changning and Jiang'an, around 70km southeast of Yibin via Changning, the extraordinary South Sichuan Bamboo Sea ("Shunan Zhuhai" in Chinese Pinyin) covers an area of 120sqkm of mountain slopes at an elevation from 600 to 1000m. There are 27 majestic mountains, more than 500 peaks and ridges, a total of more than 400 species of bamboo in the scenic spot, area of which is more than 13 acres, where phyllostachys pubescens intersect closely with each, presenting a coverage of green and very spectacular scene. In its central region, more than 5000 hectares of bamboo shelters 28 ridges and peaks, vegetation coverage is 87%, and the natural oxygen bar with extremely high content of air negative ions here.The area’s climate is rather damp with plentiful rainfall and the sandy soil here is perfect for growing bamboo.

The Shunan Bamboo Sea is the world's largest natural bamboo forest area and one of the ten prettiest forests in China,  , which created a wonderland of mountain in the cloud and the sea of bamboo thanks to its unique geographical location, This place seems like a misty vast green sea, hence comes the name of ”Bamboo Sea”.

With many cultural relics and historic sites screened by the feathery green tufts, there are Bamboo Sea Museum, old folk residences on Mount Xijia and fish fossils.This is considered as a historical treasure mixed with rivers, mountains, lakes, waterfalls, karst caves and artificially recreated historical events.

The gorgeous scenes once attracted many movie directors for filming, Tiger Crouched and Dragon Hidden is a famous one. Sprawls over a vast stretch of bamboo groves, the scenery shelters the crumpled hills, pleasant valleys, dramatic gorges, splashing waterfalls, inky black water pools, tranquil lakes, cultural temples and pristine villagers. Ranges of desirable sights could be browsed, such as Carefree Valley, Clouds Viewing Pavilion, Jadeite Corridor, Looking at the Sea Pavilion, Fairy Cave, Tianbao stockade, Rainbow Water Fall and Bamboo Museum.Among the ocean of bamboo lies a narrow five-kilometer path. Walking along this "Jade Green Corridor", the fresh air and sound of the green waves rustling in the wind create a heavenly experience.
