Luoji Mountain National Scenic Spot is a part of the Qionghai Lake - Luoji Mountain National Scenic Spot. It is a national 4-A level scenic spot that integrates unique natural scenery and rich ethnic customs. The scenic spot is located in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, only 42 kilometers away from Xichang City, the capital of the Prefecture, 487 kilometers away from Chengdu. It gets the name because of the main peak towering into the clouds, the shape like a blue snail and a jade bun. The total area is 2,400 square kilometers, of which the main scenic area covers 1,083 square kilometers, the main peak is 4,359 meters above sea level. There are 58 peaks that are over 4,000 meters.

The name of Luoji Mountain comes from the "sister" relationship with the famous Emei Mountion. Emei Mountion looks like the eyebrow of a beautiful woman and Luoji Mountain looks like a blue snail shaped jade bun on a young girl's head. 

Luoji Mountain Scenic Spot preserved the ancient glacial remains of the Quaternary period completely, and is famous at home and abroad for its typical landscapes such as "alpine lakes, glacier grooves, azalea sea, sharp peak, cloud fog sea, primeval and primeval forest". The scenic area is known as the "World Ancient Glacier Geopark", "Animal and Plant Kingdom", "Biological Resources Gene Bank" and "Hometown of China Yi's Torch Festival". It is an ideal destination for geological research, scientific investigation and ecological tourism, as well as the best place to experience the customs of the Yi people.

The local Yi people say the immortals live in the place. Fairy Cave is a magma cave more than 10 kilometers in length. Stalactites in the cave are in various forms and have their own characteristics.

Black Dragon Pool is located in the east of the main ridge of Luoji Mountain, between Qingshuigou Valley and Zhenzhu Lake Valley, belonging to the lowest and largest ice bucket lake in the area. It is 3650 meters above sea level. The surface of the lake can reach approx. 333.000 square meters in wet season, and only 240,000 square meters in dry season. The shallow part of the lake is 1 to 3 meters, and the depth is 8 meters.

Clothing

Yi people love beauty, especially flowers, which is shown incisively and vividly in costumes. The traditional dress of pleated skirt for women, hand-woven woollen cloak etc are special.

Entertainment

Yi people are good at singing and dancing. in the slack season, young men and women often make bonfires at night, boys play Yuexian(a musical Instrument)and girls sing and dance happily around the bonfires.

Colorful glacial lakes

there are a total of 33 ice bucket lakes of varying sizes deep in the primeval forest.

The magnificent glacier peaks and ridges

There are 58 peaks over 4000 meters high, the main peak is a typical pyramid-shaped angular peak, namely the famous Luotuo Peak and Beilei Peak. These mountains extend 30 kilometers to the south. The concentration of its peaks, the magnificence of its scale and the strangeness of its shape are rare in the mountain landscape of China.

The largest ancient glacier grooves in the world

It's an ancient glacier that carves hard blocks of rock into the bottom and sides of the glacier with great force, forming wide and deep grooves. For example, on both sides of the great ice cellar at the source of the Qingshuigou and the U shaped valley, such grooves can be seen everywhere.

Colorful rhododendrons flower sea

There are more than 30 species, ranging from 1500 to 4000 meters above sea level. From early spring to summer and autumn, all kinds of rhododendrons gradually open from low mountains to high mountains. Rhododendron, called Soma Flower in Yi language, is the welcome flower of Yi people in Liangshan.

Hot Spring Waterfall

The fifth unique spot of Luoji Mountain is the hot spring waterfall of Dacao River, known as the Water Curtain Cave, 20 meters high and 15 meters wide.
