The Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon

The Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, along the Yarlung Tsangpo River in Tibet Autonomous Region, China, is the deepest canyon in the world, and at 504.6 kilometres is slightly longer than the Grand Canyon in the United States, making it one of the world's largest.The Yarlung Tsangpo  originates near Mount Kailash and runs east for about 1,700 kilometres , draining a northern section of the Himalayas before it enters the gorge just downstream of Pei, Tibet.

The canyon has a length of about 240 kilometres  as the gorge bends around Mount Namcha Barwa (7,782 metres ) and cuts its way through the eastern Himalayan range. Its waters drop from about 2,900 metres near Pei to about 1,500 metres at the end of the Upper Gorge where the Po Tsangpo River enters. The river continues through the Lower Gorge to the Indian border at an elevation of 660 metres . The river then enters Arunachal Pradesh and eventually becomes the Brahmaputra.

Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon is an unusual canyon and the biggest moisture channel of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Tibet.The valley is home to varieties of species, due to its wide range of sea levels.The diversified climatic zones determined its vertical distribution of diversified vegetation and numerous wild animals. Nearly 5,000 species of vegetation have already been found here.

The whole canyon boasts harsh environment combined glaciers, cliffs, abrupt slopes, debris flows and a billowy river. Many parts of it still have no human footprints to this day, and it is hailed as "the last secret area on the earth" which left a blank page in the geological work records.

As a treacherous canyon hidden in inner Tibet, the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon has been discovered as a new and challenging tourist attractions include the Grand Canyon, the Great Yarlung Zangbo Turning, beautiful snowberg of Namcha Barwa (南迦巴瓦峰), Gyala Peri Mountains.
