Nanshan Pasture, about 75 kilometers south of Urumqi City in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located at the north of the Tianshan Mountain Range.

The green grasslands, pristine valleys and gushing waterfalls are a feast for the eyes. Visitors can taste authentic Xinjiang food served by local Kazakh people in traditional yurts, enabling them to experience Kazakh customs. It was a famous hunting ground in 7th century during Tang Dynasty, and it was used as a famed ranch in Qing Dynasty (1636 ~ 1912). Currently, this area now mainly served as a tourists spot.

With an area of 120 square kilometers and sits at the elevation of 2000 meters, Nanshan Pasture is featured in exquisite scenery, including magnificent snow mountain, vast grassland, verdant forest sea, flying waterfall, clear stream; besides that, the colorful meadows with beautiful butterflies flying around and the unique Kazakh ethnic culture making this region a charming attraction both to locals and visitors from aboard. Muxutai

Muxutai is a meadow on a mountain top, surrounded by mountains in three directions. This site provides tourists a overlook view of Urumqi city. All year round, Muxutai is decorated with sea of flowers. Wild animals are not uncommon in this region, with a bit of luck you could spot wild boar, marmot and red deer.

West Baiyanggou

West Baiyanggou (valley of white poplar three) enjoys a well known reputation for being the summer retreat of Nanshan Pasture for locals in Urumqi. Thick firs and pins cover all over the hill side, while little streams flow pass the craggy stones. Kazakh yurts dotted in the vast grassland. There is a 70m high waterfall hanging on a cliff like a white cloth. In this valley, tourists can ride horse to experience the quiet and serene natural scenery, or just lie down on the soft meadow under the warm sunshine, watch the eagle hovering in the sky.
