Qujing is a prefecture level city under the jurisdiction of Yunnan Province, located in the east of Yunnan Province, at the source of the Pearl River, at the junction of Yunnan, Guizhou and Guangxi provinces. It is known as the "Key of Yunnan and Guizhou" and the "Throat of Yunnan". It is 120 kilometers away from the provincial capital Kunming, covering an area of 28,900 square kilometers, has jurisdiction over 1 city, 3 districts and 5 counties. The permanent population is about 5,7 millions.
Qujing is located in the Wumeng Mountains in the transition zone between the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and the Eastern Yunnan Plateau and the Western Guizhou Plateau. In the west, it is interlaid with the lake basin area of the Central Yunnan Plateau, and in the east, it gradually slopes toward the Guizhou Plateau. In the middle, it is located in the watershed zone of Yangtze River and Pearl River. Luliang Colored Sand Forest is a national 4A class tourist area, 18 kilometers away from Luliang county, with 108 named scenic spots distributed in the "Y" shaped canyon, covering a total area of 180 hectares. The sand forest is formed by weathering and denudation. And because of its red, yellow, white color, mixed with green, blue, black, gray, plus the season, climate, sunshine and viewing angle, produce different colors, the sand forest is a famous geological tourism landscape.
Zhujiang Source Scenic Spot is located at the foot of Maxiong Mountain in Zhanyi District, 60 kilometers away from Qujing city. With dense forests and gurgling streams, the scenic spot is an excellent place for leisure, vacation, entertainment and sightseeing.
Huize Dahai Grass Mountain is located in the southeast of Dahai Township, Huize County, Qujing City. It is the main peak section of Wumeng Mountain system with an elevation of 3,570 to 4,017 meters. The highest peak, Guniuzhai, is 4,017.3 meters above sea level, which is the highest peak of Wumeng Mountain system. The Grass Mountain terrain is gentle and vast, belonging to the subalpine meadow, and the grassland stretches an area of 180 hectares. Famous for the grass, flowers, clouds, fog, snow, light, water, peaks and other beautiful sceneries.
Duoyi River Scenic Spot, located 40 kilometers southeast of Luoping county at Yunnan, Guizhou and Guangxi three provinces junction, scenic area 760-900 meters above sea level, an area of about 17 square kilometers. The climate of the scenic spot belongs to the subtropical climate, with the annual average temperature of 18.5℃. Duoyi River has beautiful landscape, quiet environment, folk customs and waterfall clusters. In the scenic spot, the Buyi ethnic customs are more intense and intoxicant. Especially on the third day of the third lunar month, young men and women gather by the river in their best costumes to race bamboo rafts, send egg packets, splash water to play, and sing songs to seek a mate, just like an arcadia, and you can also taste the food with ethnic characteristics.
Qilin water village scenic area is a beautiful rural water village, but also a leisure resort area where people can experience seaplane, canoe sports, health and agricultural sightseeing.
Xuanwei ham is one of the three famous hams in China. It is made from Wumeng pig and cured in a special way. Xuanwei ham gets its name because of its origin. Xuanwei ham has a long history dating back to Ming Dynasty(1368-1644) at the latest.
Steamed rice noodle is a traditional Yunnan snack, original in Qujing. It formed a complete technique and concept in the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644), continuously enriched and improved.
Zhanyi spicy chicken is a famous food specialty in China and a masterpiece of Yunnan cuisine. Xiping Town, Zhanyi County, Qujing City has a history of one hundred years. It is famous for its exquisitely selected ingredients, complex recipe making and spicy and refreshing taste. The most representative is Gong's spicy chicken.
Qujing also has Huashan mutton with skin, potato chicken, Huize bean porridge braised rice cake and so on.
Railway: Shanghai-Kunming high speed railway has stations in Juqing.
Highway: There are four expressways in the area.
Qujing mainly has a subtropical plateau monsoon climate, which is characterized by better lighting conditions in winter and spring, unstable temperature in spring, no hot summer, concentrated precipitation, rapid cooling in autumn, overcast and rainy, warm winter and dry winter. It has a three dimensional climate of "four seasons in one mountain, different days within five kilometers". Perennial average temperature is around 14.5℃.
