Zhijin Cave, located in Guanzhai Miao Township, Zhijin County, Guizhou Province, on the south bank of Liuchong River, one of the sources of Wujiang River, 120 kilometers away from Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou Provincial.
In April 1980, the cave was discovered. Zhijin Cave is now a National Geological Park, National Natural Heritage, National 4-AAAA level tourist attraction and World Geological Park. The park covers an area of 170 km2, 900~1670m above sea level. Zhijin Cave was rated the first of China's Six Most Beautiful Tourist Caves, the Most Beautiful Tourist Attractions in China - the First of China's Top Ten Strange Caves, known as the King of Karst Caves in China. In 2015, the Zhijindong National Geopark was officially approved by UNESCO to join the World Geoparks. It becomes the first world geopark in Guizhou Province.
Zhijin Cave is 6.6km long, 175 meters wide at its widest point, and has a relative height difference of more than 150 meters. The whole cave has a volume of 5 million cubic meters, with a wide space of three floors, upper, middle and lower. There are more than 40 kinds of accumulations in the cave, such as stalagmite, stone pillar, stone bud and bell flag, forming a variety of karst landscape. The tunnels crisscross, stone peaks scatter everywhere, running water, intermittent ponds, underground lakes are scattered among these. It is praised as Karst Treasure and Karst Cave Wonder.
Zhijin cave is a subtropical humid monsoon climate area. Under the influence of the neotectonic movement, the block was uplifted and the river cut the dissolved rock mass and formed the high dry karst cave. Geologically formed about half a million years. Due to the complex and changeable geological structure, the cave has the fully developed characteristics of multi-pattern, multi-stage and multi-type.
According to different landscapes and characteristics, Zhijin Cave has 47 halls and more than 150 scenic spots.
