Guizhou Libo Travel Guide

Libo County, under the jurisdiction of Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Guizhou Province, is located in the southernmost part of Guizhou Province, the transition zone between Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and Guangxi Hills. There are both mountains and hills, which belong to the karst landform. It is adjacent to Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County and Nandan County of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the southeast, with a total area of 2,431.8 square kilometers. The permanent population is about 154,896. The population of ethnic minorities accounts for 92.7%, mainly including Buyi, Shui, Miao and Yao.

Libo has a good ecological environment and pleasant climate, with the national 5A(top level) Zhangjiang Scenic Spot, national Maolan Nature Reserve, Shuichun River rafting, Huangjiang River National Wetland Park, Yaoshan Ancient Village Scenic Spot, Four Season Flower Sea and local style dwelling houses in Zhaipiao, Shuipu, Datu and other scenic spots.

Libo is a very quiet town surrounded by green mountains. Zhangjiang River in the shape of S runs through the county seat. Libo, located in the karst hinterland of Southern Guizhou was successfully declared as the World Natural Heritage site, known as the "Emerald on the Belt of the Earth".

● What to do & where to go in Lobo

Maolan National Nature Reserve has more than 500 species of trees grow in the reserve and there are many rare species such as ginkgo biloba and lidenlip which are known as living fossils. In addition to rare plants, forest musk deer, macaques, Chinese roe, south China tiger and many other ancient wild animals are preserved. In addition to the beautiful scenery of mountains and fields, Yao ancient villages, Buyi villages and Laqiao villages are scattered here, where you can experience the pure customs and performances of ethnic minorities.

Small Sever Hole Scenic Spot is one of the four scenic spots of Zhangjiang Scenic Area, located in the southern edge of Guizhou Plateau, with a total area of 46.4 square kilometers. The scenic area integrates forest, cave, lake, stone, water and other landscapes. It is exquisite and beautiful and enjoys the reputation of "Super Bonsai". There are mainly 21 scenic spots such as the Small Sever Hole ancient bridge, Laya Waterfall, 68 Level Waterfall, Forest above Stone, Wild Pig Forest, Forest in Water, Tianzhong Cave, Wolong Pool, Yuanyang Lake and so on.

Big Seven Hole Scenic Spot is located in the south of Libo County, 25 kilometers away from the county seat. Because there is a seven hole bridge on the Dagou River (also known as Mengtang River) near Mengtang Village. The bridge is 7 meters high, 4.5 meters wide and 35 meters long, spanning east and west. The scenic area is dominated by primeval forests, canyons, currents and underground lakes. The landscape is precipitous and magical, especially in the scenic spots of God of Wind Cave, Horror Gorge and Fairy Palace. There are waterfall in the cave, lake under the waterfall and window on the lake. The sun casts under the shape of the sun, moon and stars, very thrilling and mysterious. 

Zhangjiang Scenic Zone is one of the four scenic spots with a total area of 15.1 square kilometers. The plan combines the location advantages and resource characteristics of the scenic spot to build it into a comprehensive tourism area integrating ecological sightseeing, pastoral leisure, ethnic customs experience and adventure sports.

Shuichun River Gorge Scenic Spot has a total length of 13 kilometers,named after the ancient Shuichun Village of Buyi nationality. It is the most beautiful section of Libo Zhangjiang River, composed of steep peaks, cliffs, caves, beaches, rapids, gentle beaches and dense forests, forming 29 unique canyon landscapes.

● Transportation

Railway: Guiyang-Naning High Speed Railway runs through Libo County with Libo station and is expected to open to traffic with the railway in 2023. 

Highway: 4 hours from Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou Province

Airport: Qian'nan Libo Airport has flight to/from Guiyang, Nanjing and Jieyang

● Weather

Libo County belongs to the subtropical monsoon humid climate zone. The general trend of temperature distribution is high in the south and low in the north. The annual average temperature of the county is 18.3℃. The hottest month in the county is July and the coldest month is January. The average temperature in July was below 27℃ and the average temperature in January was above 5.5℃ all over the country. Precipitation is mainly concentrated in summer.
