Guizhou Bijie Travel Guide

Bijie, a prefecture level city under jurisdiction of Guizhou Province, is located in the northwest of Guizhou Province, adjacent to Yunnan Province in the west and Sichuan Province in the north. With a total area of 26,900 square kilometers, Bijie is the birthplace of Wujiang River, Beipan River and Chishui River. The city has a permanent population of 6.8448 million. 

Bijie is one of the political, economic and cultural centers of the ancient Yelang Kingdom and the birthplace of ancient human culture in southern China. Bijie’s beautiful scenery, known as "caves, lakes, flowers, crane town and summer paradise". Bijie is a summer tourist city with cool and pleasant climate and has been selected as one of the most beautiful city, a charming city and summer resort in China.

● What to do & where to go in Bijie

Bijie is rich in tourism resources. There are the national 5A(top level）tourist scenic spot Thousand Li(50 km) Azalea, the world geological park Zhijin Cave, the national nature reserve Grass Sea, the national 4A(second level) scenic spot "Nine Cave Sky" and Gonglongping, national 3A(third level) scenic spot Xiaohe, plateau lake Zhiga Alu Lake, the roof of Guizhou Province - Jiucaiping scenic spot, the ancient town of Muege and so on.

● What to eat in Bijie

Weining fried buckwheat rice, Weining ham, square shaped tofu(can be stewed with meat, steam, boil, grill, etc. Weining buckwheat crisp, glutinous rice ball, buckwheat bean jelly, rice pudding, rice cake, Siwawa(vegetarian spring roll), Wang Sazi roast chicken, blood tofu, Luoguo pot barbecue, etc.

● Transportation

Railway: Neijiang-Kunming railway, Zhijin-Bijie railway and Chengdu-Guiyang high speed railway has stations in Bijie. One can take train to/from Bijie from Guiyang, Chongqing, Chengdu and Kunming.

Highway: There are eight expressways in the area.

Airport: Bijie Feixiong Airport has direct flights to 21 domestic cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xian, Hangzhou, Lijiang, Kunming, Guiyang, Chongqing, etc.

● Weather

Bijie belongs to the north subtropical monsoon humid climate, no heat in summer, no cold in winter, monsoon climate is obvious, rainfall is abundant, three-dimensional climate is prominent, the average temperature of the city is between 10℃ to 15℃. Bijie has a large relative elevation difference and the vertical climate change is particularly obvious. The cold and warm temperatures are different in the mountains and under the mountains, the cold and heat are different in the plateau and basin, which is conducive to the growth of a variety of plants and animals.
