Xiannu(Fairy) Mountain, national 5A(top level) scenic spot, national forest park and top ten tourist attractions in Chongqing, located in the northern bank of Wujiang River in Wulong District, Chongqing and belongs to the Wuling Mountains. It is 180 kilometers away from the main city of Chongqing with an altitude of 2,033 meters. It has 330,000 mu(22,000 ha)of forest and 100,000 mu(6,667 ha) of natural grassland, the average temperature in summer is 24℃. With its charming alpine grassland in the south of the Yangtze River, rare forest and snow fields in the south, lush green landscape of the jungle, known as "the first pasture in the south" and "Oriental Switzerland". Its charming forest and grassland scenery is unique in Chongqing. 

In winter, Xiannu Mountain is covered with white snow, fog pine and ice waterfalls. It is an excellent tourist resort for enjoying snow scenery and carrying out snow sports near Chongqing. In summer, the vast forest, blowing breeze, cool and pleasant. The average temperature is 15℃ lower than the main city of Chongqing, has the reputation"Chongqing’s Summer Palace" .

The combination of Xiannu Mountain, the magical Furong Cave, the beautiful Furong River and the world's largest Three Natural Bridges group geological wonder has become the best tourist resort in Chongqing. The combination of Xiannu Mountain and Shisun Mountain in Shimen Town, Jiangjin District can be called the two wonders in Chongqing. In October 2015, Xiannu Mountain Tourism Resort was officially named as "the first batch national tourism resort" by China National Tourism Administration. On July 31, 2016, Xiannu Mountain National Forest Park was listed as "national famous brand creation demonstration area" by China General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

Xiannu Mountain National Forest Park is located in the northern bank of the lower reaches of Wujiang River in Wulong District, Chongqing. It is a part of the Wuling Mountain system with an area of 5,070 hectares. The average altitude is 1,850 meters and the highest elevation is 2,033 meters. 

Xiannu Mountain National Forest Park in Chongqing gets its name because one of its peak resembles a dancing fairy. Together with the Thousand Li(500km) Wujiang River scenery, the magical Furong Cave, the beautiful Furong River and the world's largest group geological wonders, it has become a tourist resort in Chongqing, a national 5A(top level) tourist attraction and one of the "most influential forest parks" in China.

The tourism development of Xiannu Mountain began in the early 1990s. In 1999, Xiannu Mountain Forest Park was approved as a national forest park.

● Highlights of Xiannu Mountain

Grassland

Xiannu Mountain has a large grassland of 100,000 mu(6,667 ha). Because the grassland is interdependent with the woods and connected with the hills, the line of sight is blocked by the woods and shallow hills to some extent. In essence, they are basically connected as one. You can ride horse, ski, ski grass to feel the sensation of flying.

Bodhisattva Heap

Bodhisattva Heap is located at the edge of Xiaogengba pasture. It is a small single peak standing on the hollow area of the meadow like a kind-looking bodhisattva. This is the god "Bodhisattva Heap" many visitors specially come to worship. Especially every year on the 29th day of the sixth month of the lunar calendar, hundreds of mountain people will come here to worship, which becomes a big landscape on the Xianu Mountain.

Tongtian Tower

Tongtian Tower is the highest peak in Xiannu Mountain Park at 2,033 meters above sea level. The Tower used to be a lookout to monitor forest fires at the Xiannu Mountain Forest Farm. The Old wooden tower has been replaced by blue brick and cement. It not only continues to play the role of forest fire monitoring, but also satisfies the tourists' desire to overlook the distance.

Xiannu(Fairy) Stone

The scenery of Xiannu(Fairy) Stone is different from other places in Xiannu(Fairy) Mountain, where there are cliffs and ravines and several stone columns standing on the cliffs which is the Fairy Stone. It is said that long, long ago, the seven fairies in the heaven came to the mountain secretly because they were greedy for the scenery on the earth. They fell in love with mortals and settled for life in private. Soon this was found out by the queen mother who angrily punished them into huge stones, standing here for thousands of years, with four eyes facing each other but could not reach. In memory of these lovers and let this poignant love story spread forever, the later generations named the place Xiannu(Fairy) Mountain.

Xiannu(Fairy) Pool

Legend has it that a fairy in the Heavenly Palace heard of the beauty of the mountain and secretly went to the earth. She was soon found out by the queen mother and was punished by asking her to do a good thing for the earth. The fairy found that the mountain was severely short of water, so she sacrificed herself, turned her body into a pool of clear water and stayed on the mountain forever, only accompanied by the crane who had followed her to the earth. In memory of the fairy who has done good, people named it Xiannu(Fairy) Pool.
