Wulong Karst Tourist Area is located in Wulong District of Chongqing. With a rare natural landscape of karst, it includes karst caves, sinkholes, cracks in the ground, canyons, peak clusters, alpine grassland and so on. It has a variety of colorful vacation, leisure, entertainment and sports items as well as the unique folk customs of Tujia, Miao and Gelao minorities. In 2011, it was rated as a national 5A(top level) tourist area. Wulong Karst tourist area includes three parts, the Three Natural Bridges, Xiannu(Fairy) Mountain and Furong(Hibiscus) Cave. On November 18, 2020, it was elected as the new landmark of "Bashu(Chongqing and Sichuan) Cultural Tourism Corridor".
The Three Natural Bridges are located in the south of the Xiannu(Fairy) Mountain between the Xiannu Mountain and Wulong District of Chongqing.
The Three Natural Bridges are a rare geological spectacle and ecological tourist area in China and a typical karst landform. Tianlong(Sky Dragon) Bridge, Qinglong(Blue Dragon) Bridge and Heilong(Black) Dragon Bridge are three majestic stone arch bridges in the scenic area, which are the largest group of natural bridges in Asia.
The Three Natural Bridges are located in Wulong District, 20 kilometers southeast of the Baiguo Township and Hetao Township at the junction. Three natural stone arch bridges are created by nature. They have the characteristics of majestic, strange, dangerous, beautiful, secluded and unique.
Wulong Karst is a subtropical monsoon humid climate, mild climate, abundant rainfall, lack of sunshine, four distinct seasons, long frost-free period and high humidity. The annual average amount of sunshine is 1160.5 hours, annual average temperature is 17.9℃, the extreme maximum temperature is 41.7℃ and the extreme minimum temperature is minus 3.5℃.
The Three Natural Bridges make up the most spectacular section of the South China Karst UNESCO World Heritage Site. A popular tourist attraction for millions of visitors from Chongqing City, the three limestone arches have openings between 96 and 116 meters in height. There is a cliffside elevator bring visitors to the floor of the Yangshui River Gorge. Guests can also follow along a river boardwalk path where a tram brings you back up to the top.
Although it is not the highest or longest platform ever built, the steel and glass Three Bridges viewing platform is probably the largest ever built with enough room to accommodate more than 100 tourists at a time.
The Three Natural Bridges Viewing Platform vertical drop from the platform tip is 175 meters. The deck elevation is approximately 205 meters above the creek at the bottom. The Three Natural Bridges are featured prominently in the 2014 film Transformers: Age of Extinction directed by Michael Bay.
