Black Valley is located in the Dalou Mountains where the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau transites to Sichuan Basin. Dalou Mountain is a boundary mountain between Chongqing Municipality and Guizhou Province. Black Valley is in Heishan Town, Wansheng Economic and Technological Development Zone of Chongqing City, adjacent to Jinfo Mountain of Nanchuan District of Chongqing and Tongzi Baiqing Nature Reserve of Tongzi, Guizhou Province. It is 63 kilometers away from Chongqing City, with an area of 100 square kilometers. The highest peak in the scenic area, the Lion Peak is 1,973 meters above sea level. The height difference between the peak and the bottom of the valley is 1,200 meters, the canyon is 13 kilometers long and the slope of both sides of the valley is 70 to 80 degrees.

Black valley scenic spot is composed of two scenic spots, the Black Valley and Longlin Stone Sea. There are characteristic landscapes of mountains, peaks, canyons, cliffs, forests, bamboo sea, waterfalls, clear water, karst caves, archaize plank road, floating bridge, cloud sea, rural areas, original vegetation, rare plants and animals and so on. The scenic area has high mountains and dense forests and few people have been. It has preserved a few intact natural ecology of subtropical and temperate zones in the same latitude on the earth with a forest coverage rate of 97%. It is the largest natural ecological scenic spot in Chongqing with the most intact original ecological protection. It is praised by experts as "Chongqing and Guizhou’s biological gene bank", "Chongqing's unique biological gene bank" and "Shennongjia in southwest China(Shennongjia is the famous Chinese primeval forest in Hubei Province)".

Black Valley scenic area is 13 kilometers long, including 6 kilometers battery car drive, 6 kilometers plank road and floating bridge, 1 kilometers cableway (downhill from the South Gate and uphill from the North Gate). Enter from the gate of the scenic spot, along the river and down to Xiangshui Village, the valley is about 40-50 meters wide. There is flat land along the river. There are hills and mountains above in a stepped topography. The valley section is "V" shaped, the river is narrow. The width of the river below is generally about 20 meters, some are only a few meters. Among which, the widest of the Fish Jump Gorge, Wild Boar Gorge and Monkey Jump Gorge are less than 10 meters, the narrowest is only two meters. It is very challenging to take the floating bridge and suspension bridge to pass. The height of Black Valley is between 400 and 600 meters, the slope on both sides of the valley is steep generally 70 to 80 degrees, part of the slope is above 90 degrees, its image is fantastic.

The largest ecological park in Chongqing, the magical and charming Black Valley, is known as "Bermuda in western China" and "the valley of the terrible death". This is a place where people and animals have been lying in silence for thousands of years, shivering with cold but being stirred up by the press.
